This week's spiritual discipline, for our last lenten series for kids, is scripture. When I think of spiritual disciplines, reading the Bible is at the top of that list. It is crucial for understanding God's design for us, for learning more about Jesus, and for understanding how we are to live as Christians. Many have called it "the blueprint for life," and truly it is that and so much more! It is truth, given to us straight from our God. What an unbelievable gift! Teaching our kids how to use this gift is so important, for as the Bible teaches, "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it." - Proverbs 22:6 No matter where you are on the journey of engaging your children with the Bible, I'd encourage you to take a look at your Bible reading habits and figure out ways in which your family can grow even more in this discipline. Even if your children can't read yet, there are many ways you can bring the Bible into their daily life.
In this week's letter, you will find a simple definition of scripture, some discussion points for you and your kids about the Bible, a children's sermon about the importance of reading the entire Bible, ways to incorporate scripture into your family's life this week, a step-by-step plan to start (or renew) your Bible reading journey, my favorite children's Bible picks, ways to encourage memorization of scripture and more! Click the link below now, or find it under the "Just Give Me Jesus" page located under the "Children and Youth" tab at the top of this website. You can also go here to access past week's letters on service, community, prayer and worship. Thank you for walking alongside us as we have explored these disciplines together. As mentioned above, you can access each of these letters and resources whenever you would like. Have a great week, everyone, and keep Jesus in the center of your kid's lives!
